EARTHSCI 307

: Earth's Changing Climate
2024 Semester One (1243)
An exploration of long-term climatic and environmental variability from deep time to the present - all placed in the context of our warming world. Emphasis is on the nature and drivers of climate change, and the tools used for analysis of past climate impacts on Earth landscapes, the hydrosphere and the biosphere.
Subject: Earth Sciences
Prerequisite: 45 points at Stage II, including 15 points from EARTHSCI 201, 202, 220, GEOG 260-263, or equivalent

EARTHSCI 307

: From Ice House to Greenhouse
2023 Semester One (1233)
An exploration of the evolution of long-term climatic and environmental variability placed in the context of our warming world. The topic is multi-disciplinary and examines aspects of paleoceanography, sea-level change, paleo ice sheets, paleohydrology, paleoecology, paleolimnology, and speleothems as well as the techniques used to extract the records of climate change that they contain.
Subject: Earth Sciences
Prerequisite: 45 points at Stage II, including 15 points from EARTHSCI 201, 202, 220, GEOG 260-263, or equivalent

EARTHSCI 307

: Dynamic Quaternary Environments
2020 Semester One (1203)
An advanced understanding of the evolution and variability of climate and environment during the Quaternary Period (last 2.6 million years). The focus of the course is on the identification of these and the use of biological, physical and geochemical proxy methods. The topic is multi-disciplinary and will examine aspects of paleoceanography, sea-level change, paleoglaciology, paleohydrology, paleoecology, paleolimnology, dendroclimatology and speleothems.
Subject: Earth Sciences
Prerequisite: 45 points at Stage II, including 15 points from EARTHSCI 201, 202, 220, GEOG 260-263, GEOLOGY 201, 202, or equivalent
