Course Overview

Explores the challenges and the opportunities for women entrepreneurs in diverse contexts. Examines issues related to gender bias, and related challenges  pertaining to diversity and inclusion.  Develops research and critical thinking  skills . Provides opportunities to learn in a collaborative environment and develop interpersonal capabilities  through the use of authentic real-world assessments.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
  1. Examine key approaches to the study of women and entrepreneurship and how women entrepreneurs engage with the challenges faced in a written format. (Capability 1, 2, 3, 4.2 and 6)
  2. Scope and research an opportunity or problem related to gender bias and/or diversity and inclusion. (Capability 1, 2 and 6)
  3. Cricially evaluate research to develop an initiative to address an identified opportunity or problem relating to gender bias and/or diversity and inclusion. (Capability 2, 3 and 6)
  4. Research and present findings in both oral and written formats. (Capability 1, 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2 and 6)

Workload Expectations

For this course, you can expect 20 hours of contact time , 10 hours of reading and thinking about the content and 20 hours of work on assignments and/or test preparation. The course will be delivered in  block format with sessions on on a Friday afternoon and part of Saturday.

Campus Experience

Attendance is expected at scheduled activities including scheduled workshops  to complete components of the course.
Workshops will be not be  recorded. Other learning activities, including guest speakers, will not be  recorded. Attendance on campus is required for the test. The activities for the course are scheduled as a block delivery.

At the end of every semester students will be invited to give feedback on the course and teaching through a tool called SET or Qualtrics. The lecturers and course co-ordinators will consider all feedback and respond with summaries and actions.

This is the first time this courses will be offered. 

Academic Integrity
