Course Prescription
Course Overview
This course acknowledges the importance of embracing and honouring diversity, particularly in a city with a growing Pacific population. It recognizes the unique backgrounds of all our students and places a special focus on the education of Pacific students. This is achieved by delving into the connection between social constructivism and identity, analysing educational policies, and evaluating teacher responsiveness to diversity through the lens of critical theory. The course also explores critical pedagogies and transformative approaches as tools to enrich the learning experiences of a wide range of learners.

Learning Outcomes
- Articulate and critique their own cultural/social location and assumptions; (Capability 1.1)

To pass this course you must attempt all assignments and achieve at least 50% for the course overall.
Workload Expectations
This course is a standard 15 point course and students are expected to spend 10 hours per week involved in each 15 point course that they are enrolled in. A typical semester including the study/exam period totals approximately 15 weeks. This means that for this course you should expect to commit 36 hours to direct contact via on-campus and/or online lectures and tutorials. In addition to lectures and tutorials, you can also reasonably expect to commit approximately 100-120 hours to independent learning. This may include reading, note-taking, face-to-face and/or online discussion, writing, engaging in collaborative group work, problem-solving, undertaking practical tasks, reecting on learning, accessing learning and study resources, and assignment preparation and completion.
Delivery Mode
Campus Experience
Attendance is expected at scheduled activities including tutorials to complete components of the course. Lectures will be available as recordings. Other learning activities including tutorials will not be available as recordings. The course will not include live online events including tutorials. The activities for the course are scheduled as a standard weekly timetable delivery.

Academic Integrity
