Learning Outcomes
- To develop skills in generating a range of material effects in relation to time-based art practices through the production of studio work. Communicate effectively and inclusively, employing tikanga Māori appropriately. (Capability 3, 6, 7 and 8)
- To develop technical skills in a range of digital film making technologies and to self-manage an environmentally and personally sustainable creative practice. (Capability 2 and 3)
- To develop skills in idea generation and material effects in relation to time based art practices to make current, original creative work. Communicate effectively and inclusively, employing tikanga Māori appropriately. Key skills are in professional communication to crew involved in the collaborative productions. (Capability 3, 6 and 7)
- To incorporate a range of research and development methods for developing creative work and to conduct their creative practice with independence and integrity. (Capability 4 and 8)

Teaching & Learning Methods
Project-centred learning is used to support the development of students’ creative working practices. Based in kanohi ki te kanohi environments, talanoa sits at the centre, creating opportunities to share diverse perspectives, knowledge and concepts. A broad range of methods is used across the studio, workshop and digital spaces including individual and collaborative projects, practical workshops, small group feedback sessions, lectures, tutorials, seminars, readings.
Workload Expectations
This course is a standard 15 point course and students are expected to spend 10 hours per week involved in each 15 point course that they are enrolled in. Each week includes 3 hours of teaching contact and 7 hours of independent study time. For this course overall, you can expect 36 hours of contact/class time, 96 hours of self-directed study working on assignments and 18 hours of preparatory reading/research.
Delivery Mode
Campus Experience
Attendance is expected at scheduled activities including labs/tutorials/studios/ to complete credit for components of the course.
Lectures will be available as recordings. Other learning activities including seminars/tutorials/labs/studios will not be available as recordings.
The course may include live online events including group discussions/tutorials.
Attendance on campus is required for the assignment hand-ins.
The activities for the course are scheduled as a standard weekly timetable.

Course materials are made available in a learning and collaboration tool called Canvas which also includes reading lists and lecture recordings (where available).

Student Feedback
At the end of every semester students will be invited to give feedback on the course and teaching through a tool called SET or Qualtrics. The lecturers and course co-ordinators will consider all feedback and respond with summaries and actions.

Academic Integrity
