Course Overview
Learning Outcomes
- SPEAK: sich in formellem und informellem Stil überzeugend, klar und höflich ausdrücken, wie es für die betreffende Situation und Person angemessen ist
- PRONOUNCE: eine klare, natürliche Intonation und Aussprache vorweisen
- PRESENT: komplexe Argumente formulieren und überzeugend präsentieren
- READ: sehr selbstständig lesen, Lesestil und -tempo verschiedenen Texten und Zwecken anpassen und geeignete Nachschlagewerke selektiv benutzen. Sie verfügen über einen großen Lesewortschatz, haben aber möglicherweise Schwierigkeiten mit selten gebrauchten Wendungen. Sie verstehen sowohl akademische als auch komplexe journalistische Texte ohne größere Schwierigkeiten.
- WRITE: Detaillierte und komplexe Texte zu verschiedenen Themen sowohl aus Interessensgebieten als auch aus neuen Themenbereichen verfassen und dabei Informationen und Argumente aus verschiedenen Quellen zusammenführen und gegeneinander abwägen
- USE STRATEGIES: Eine Vielfalt von Strategien einsetzen, um das Verstehen zu sichern; dazu gehört, dass Sie beim Zuhören auf Kernpunkte achten sowie das Textverständnis anhand von Hinweisen aus dem Kontext überprüfen
- REFLECT: Sich reflektierend sowohl mündlich als auch schriftlich mit dem eigenen Lernverhalten und Fremdsprachenlernen auseinandersetzen und eigene Strategien zum fortwährenden Lernen und Verbessern entwickeln und anwenden

Workload Expectations
Für einen 15-Punkte-Kurs an der UoA werden durchschnittlich 10 Std. Arbeitsaufwand pro Woche angesetzt. Dies beinhaltet die 4 Stunden Unterrichtszeit; die restlichen 6 Stunden verwenden Sie auf Vor- und Nachbereitung des Unterrichts: Vokabel- und Grammatiklernen, Referats-, Debatten- und Prüfungsvorbereitung und die Arbeit am Semesterprojekt. Gerade im Sprachunterricht ist es wichtig, dass Sie die wöchentlichen 10 Stunden auch für den Kurs verwenden, denn Paniklernen in letzter Minute wird Ihnen besonders im Bereich Vokabeln und Grammatik nichts nützen.

Course materials are made available in a learning and collaboration tool called Canvas which also includes reading lists and lecture recordings (where available).

Academic Integrity

In this course you may be asked to submit your coursework assessments digitally.
