EARTHSCI 208

: Buckled and Broken: Our Stressed Planet
2025 Semester Two (1255)
Introduces techniques used to analyse and understand folds, faults and stresses within the Earth. Focuses on how to interpret and extract useful information from geologic maps, construct geologic cross-sections, and synthesise analytical results into a coherent structural history, while gaining an appreciation of the relevance of such studies to modern society.
Subject: Earth Sciences
Prerequisite: 60 points passed or 30 points from ENV 100-103
Restriction: EARTHSCI 204

EARTHSCI 208

: Earth Structure
2024 Semester Two (1245)
A foundation course that introduces students to descriptive and analytical methods in structural geology. Geological maps are used to help students analyse structural features (e.g., folds, faults, contacts). On completion of this course, students should be able to interpret geological maps, construct cross-sections, and synthesise analytical results into a structural history.
Subject: Earth Sciences
Prerequisite: 15 points at Stage I in Earth Sciences
Restriction: EARTHSCI 204
